LET YOUR SPARKS FLY!

Have you ever wondered if you're the only one in the world who "gets" something? Maybe even wanted to shout it out so that everyone else gets it, too?

Here's your chance. Weigh in on our weekly Igniter Themes. Vote for your favorite "Sage Spark" at the end of the week. Who seems to get it ~ and express it ~ best?

It's fitting, of course, to begin this blog by talking about WISDOM.
What does it mean to be wise? Are all people wise?
How's do you get it - through Age? Experience?
Are YOU wise?

I can still hear my father's words rankling my teenage ears. "Patricia Ann," he'd say in that authoritative, old sage voice of his, "it'simple. The older you get, the wiser."

He said that pretty routinely ~ usually to justify the wisdom of some limit he was placing on me at the time. He knew better than I. I got that. But still, the phrase set off a gut reaction. "If that's true, Dad," I'd challenge, "then why are there so many not-so-swift, un-wise adults walking around in this world?" He never did answer.

Okay. Fast forward 30 years plus. Now I'VE got the age. And the experience. So,was he right?

I think we both were. I've learned my share of life's valuable lessons through the years, and certainly some interesting insights, too. I could even be called reasonably wise ~ along, of course, with just about everyone I know. But still, there are some people out there who just don't seem to have picked up much along the way at all. They're not even remotely attuned, no matter what their age. So, what's up with that?

Maybe it's because wisdom is something you have to truly want. It's there for the taking, but is also a conscious choice. If it holds value to you, then you'll naturally seek out life's subtle messages and deeper meanings. Conversely, maybe those not-so-wise people simply don't place much stock in it at all. Maybe they take the KISS (Keep it simple, stupid!) approach to heart, as in, Hey, why over-think and complicate things? Come to think of it, they might be wiser than I thought!

The bottom line is, no matter how vast my experiences, no matter how old I become, I'll always be wise enough to know that I'm not as wise as I'd like to think I am. I guess that's something.

So that's my take. What's yours? Tell us what You've learned about WISDOM along your path. Let the conversations begin!
